December Goals
I’ve never done monthly goals, and I don’t have anything too lofty, but here goes:
1. Drink more water (I drink too much diet soda)
2. Get to 249 at the very minimum and stay under it, so I can say I’ve lost 60 lbs this year
3. Continue improving on C25K. Ulimate goal is to run the whole 5K I’ve signed up for in January.
4. Enjoy Christmas but don’t go crazy (see...
fat-chance asked: Thank you for being the ONLY PERSON who figured out my Firefly reference. People think I'm joking when I give out points for people picking up on my references - but I'm not. Consider yourself on the board with ten points.
Daily Struggle
I’m still waiting for this to get easier.
I was late in having my morning snack today, so about noon I imploded and ate some trail mix and a serving or maybe more of pretzels in addition to my cottage cheese I have every day. Not catastrophic but still disappointing, an extra 300 calories that I wasn’t planning on eating. Then several more times throughout the day I had urges to...

'Keeping up with Tumblr' Fail
Not only have I not updated in over a week, I didn’t even get on Tumblr the whole holiday weekend…terrible. Trying to catch up now.
So, the Saturday before last was my weigh in which I never posted. I lost one pound, to bring me down to 252.6. And then the holiday happened. And I threw up my hands and went with it. And then I went some more. And all that ‘going with...
Friday Recap
Do you ever want to go to bed at night just so you can get up in the morning and have breakfast? That’s me tonight. I’m hungry, dinner was 5 hours ago…but tomorrow morning is weigh in so I don’t want to eat anything. I stole about four bites of hubby’s frozen pizza, that’s probably bad enough.
I had an okay day today. I got crazy hungry right before lunch...
Go Through the Pain
I think I’ve mentioned this before, but it bears repeating. When I started on this weight loss journey in earnest this Spring, it began with a trip to my family doctor. Chip wanted me to go get my thyroid tested, in case it was keeping me from losing weight, because I was trying and seeing little results.
My doctor obliged me with a blood test, but he said there was probably nothing wrong...
No Runners High Tonight
Well I didn’t feel as crazy good after I got off the treadmill as I have the last few times…but I still felt satisfied with a job well done. I cranked it up to 5 miles an hour for the first time, for about 30 seconds during one run. Unfortunately I felt like my belly was going to bounce out of my pants. It didn’t, but I had to hike my pants up mid-stride.
The last running...
I feel bad that I don’t do the WIW when I see everyone else’s updates, but I like doing it on Saturday because somehow, in my mind, getting to sleep later equates to a lower number on the scale - more time to lose that water! :-)
Anyway, still having a good week. I’m in that period where doing well on my diet and exercise seems somewhat easy…and I know it doesn’t...

B.A.
I have decided that running makes me feel like a bad ass. Not so much when I’m doing it, but when I’m done, and I guess those endorphins are kicking in, I’m just all like…oh yeah, I’m bad… I don’t care if I weigh 250 lbs, I can run! Ha! This is all in my head of course, not out loud. But I could definitely get used to the feeling I have after these...
New Rule
I think I need to make a new rule that unless it’s at least 70 degrees, I need to wear more layers on my bike rides.
We went out at about 3 this afternoon. The sun was shining, and it was 61 degrees. I started out in bike shorts and a short sleeved shirt, but after a trip down the alley I decided on a long sleeve shirt. A couple blocks into the ride it became obvious this wasn’t...
WIS
Weigh in Saturday!
Well the crazy end-of-PMS peeing frenzy worked it’s magic, and I lost another 5 lbs between Tuesday and today. So I have finally undone the mayhem and foolishness of the last 6 weeks and once again I’m at a new low. Wish I hadn’t wasted so much time, but it’s in the past now. Onwards!
My new mini goal is to lose 2 lbs a week for the next two weeks,...
Progress!
It’s week two, day two of my progress on the Couch to 5K program, and my first ‘good’ run I think. For the first time since I started my shins weren’t on fire by the time I finished the running sections. I didn’t realize it until I was 2/3 of the way through - hey, my shins don’t hurt! Awesome!
At the beginning I had been setting my running speed at 4 mph,...
Status : Good
I tell myself I’m going to update every day, and somehow I never quite manage it. Anyway, I’ve been having a pretty good week, considering. Tuesday I attended my Grandmother’s funeral, and that day involved some non-diet eating with family meals, but the next day I got right back on track.
My grandmother struggled with her weight most of her adult life. I definitely...
An Awesome Recipe
I just got through eating a really good dinner, and I have to share. I found this recipe on Allrecipes.com the other day. I was really hungry when I found it, and it sounded good, but the next day when I was buying the ingredients I was like, hm, do I really want to make this? I am so glad I did! My husband was *very* skeptical when he saw the name of the recipe, but he ended up having two...
Back Again
I’ve been keeping up with everyone on Tumblr for the last week or so but I haven’t been posting much…turns out, not surprisingly, that I don’t have much to report when I’m not sticking to my diet. :-)
I had a decent weekend though, and I’m getting my momentum back, I think. I’ve eaten decently the last three days, and exercised each day. On Sunday we...
The Lap Band Story
I used to have a lap band.
In late 2006 I paid $15,000 out of pocket to have a lap band put in. I didn’t have any health insurance, and although Chip, my then-finacee, had insurance through work that I could have signed up for, they didn’t cover any kind of weight loss surgery.
I’ve been overweight pretty much since 3rd grade, and other than a 40-lb loss my senior year of high...
No matter how slow you run it is still faster than someone sitting on a couch.
